The research conducted and supported is aligned with The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.

Good research practices are based on the fundamental principles of research integrity. These guide researchers in their work and their engagement with the practical, ethical, and intellectual challenges associated with research.

Fundamental principles of research integrity:

  • Reliability in ensuring the quality of research is reflected in its design, methodology, analysis, and use of resources.

  • Honesty in developing, conducting, reviewing, reporting, and communicating research results in a transparent, fair, complete, and unbiased manner.

  • Respect for colleagues, research participants, society, ecosystems, cultural heritage, and the environment.

  • Accountability for research from idea to publication, for its management and organization, for training, supervision, and mentoring, and for its broader impact.

Good research practice:

Research environment:

  • Within the research environment, awareness is promoted and the prevalence of a culture of research integrity is prevailed.

  • Proper infrastructure for data management and protection is supported.

Research procedures:

  • Researchers consider the state-of-the-art in developing research ideas.

  • Researchers design, implement, analyze, and document research in a responsible manner.

  • Researchers publish results and interpretations of research in an open, honest, transparent, and accurate manner and respect the confidentiality of data or findings when required by law.

  • Research results are reported being compatible with the standards of the discipline, and if applicable, can be verified and reproduced.

Safeguards:

  • Researchers comply with codes and regulations relevant to their discipline.

  • Research subjects are handled with respect and care and in line with applicable legal and ethical guidelines.

  • Researchers regard the health, safety and welfare of the community, of collaborators and others connected with their research.

  • Researchers recognize and manage potential harms and risks relating to their research.

Data practices and management:

  • Researchers and research institutions ensure secure stewardship and curation of all data.

  • Researchers and research institutions ensure access to data is as open as possible, as closed as necessary.

  • Researchers and research institutions provide transparency about how to access or make use of their data and research materials.

Collaborative working:

  • All actors involved in a research collaboration

    • are responsible for the research integrity.

    • find common ground on the research goals as well as its publication in full transparency and openness.

    • find common ground on expectations and standards regarding research integrity, applicable laws and regulations, on protection of the intellectual property of collaborators and standards for cases requiring conflict resolution.

    • are well informed and consulted about procedures of submission for publication of the research results.

What are the type of resources, sources, literature that should be used to contribute to research?

Following types of sources and literature are recommended for the members for the purpose of making citations for any Open Research.

  • Verified sources i.e critically acclaimed sources such as Independent Journalistic outlets, Independent public representational bodies such as organs of governance, literature from inter-governmental bodies or economic unions.

  • Peer-reviewed Journals and publications from both academic and non academic institutions.

  • A blog article, press release or a circular published by a publicly traded and listed company, inter government agencies, government agencies, local bodies.

  • A mix of resources and literature, carrying diverse and multi-polar views should be used to impart a non biased or neutral characteristics to the research.

A source such as Independent journalistic outlet or, a public representation body may have a set of editorial principles and views. These are mostly identified in Trust and Transparency Reports, issued by the source. Special care should be taken in citing the veracity of claims made in the literature from any one source. E.g verifying whether similar claims have been made in another source, which hosts an opposing editorial principles and views.

How should I check plagiarism?

Firstly, always cite your source accurately in order to prevent plagiarism, also inculde a bibliography at the end of your work with all sources listed in it. There are different citation styles, chose any one and adhere to it throughout the research draft. Members may use different open source tools to check plagiarism.

Run your research writing through a peer reviewed community discussion in appropriate forums of the Open Research.

My research contribution includes data analysis. What principles should I follow in the analytics of data and information sets?

Use open source analytics tools relevant to the research data sets in your research contributions.

What type of research methodologies to be used?

Following types of research methodologies are recommended by the Foundation:

Generally, Foundation recommends using methodologies that fit the research topic and objectives.

Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies are preferred.

How does the research publications take place?

Post quality assurance via the Foundation, outcome and conclusions of the research are published on the Foundation's Open Research portal with an appropriate open source license, governing the publication of the "CFP" on the portal.

Further, the members can also apply in conference proceedings or International Journals "Call for Proposals".

Recommended International Journals for a specific research problem statement are generally listed by the mentors posting the Call for Open Research.

Read more on Release Guidelines.

How should the research surveys take place, if surveys are conducted?

  • Foundation maintains an ecosystem of industry stakeholders, community members, scientists, researchers and invites more participants.

  • Research surveys can be conducted online either on the Foundation's communication channels or internet forums, and social media.

  • Surveys can be designed using Foundation licensed technology tools, web forms.

  • Research surveys should be embedded with a link to Foundation's privacy policy and data processing policies.

  • A clear identification should be made that the Research survey is being conducted by or in affiliation with Muellners Foundation.
