Assessment on public case studies of open source software for Micro-finance

To extrapolate the mission of documenting best practices for open source software, we have considered making assessments based on observations and findings on the open source softwares for heavily regulated banking.

Case Study Description:

Intellectual Property Lifecycle Management and transfer,

Assignment of components of open source software distribution(s) known as Open MF, then Mifos X and presently Apache Fineract

Grameen Foundation>The Community for Open Source Microfinance (COSM), Grameen Foundation>MifosX, Mifos Foundation>Apache Fineract, Apache Software Foundation

This case study concerns IP assignment in US jurisdiction, and the Observations are recorded by running necessary checks for breach of public trust, and private party influence on public trust projects.

This case study also concerns availability, IP clarification and export controls on the open source software to regulated banking entities outside USA.
